Francophone Community Network Partner
Assemblée de la francophonie de l’Ontario
The Niagara Host Society and the Assemblée de la francophonie de l’Ontario (AFO) are thrilled to announce that the AFO is now the Francophone Community Network Partner of the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games.
We are proud to collaborate with this important unifying organization that acts as the political voice of Ontario’s Francophonie. Through this partnership, the AFO will strive to engage our country’s largest Francophone community outside of Quebec, both before and during the 28th edition of the Canada Games. Through contributions to our cultural programming, including Niagara Place and the 13 for 13 Cultural Festival, along with the recruitment of volunteers who speak both French and English, the AFO will help us to amplify the visibility of our francophone communities.
Not only will Niagara 2022 provide a golden opportunity to solidify the presence of Franco-Ontarians on the national stage, it will also allow us to emphasize the importance of the French Canadian culture and bilingualism in our nation, as well as within the Canada Games family. Thousands of dedicated volunteers are at the heart of each Canada Games. The Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games will be no exception, as we will rely on the support of close to 4,500 volunteers in order to plan and host the event. This group will include 600 bilingual volunteers who will assist us in providing the best possible Games experience to our athletes, participants, spectators and guests in both official languages. These volunteers will support various functional areas of our Games, including planning, spectator experience (announcers, merchandise stalls, welcome/information desks, among others), athlete services, and language services (translation and interpretation).
Bolstered by the AFO’s support and contributions, we are aiming to deliver the most bilingual Canada Games ever held!
