Position Title: Main Results Centre Lead
Reports To: Niagara 2022 Main Results Centre Staff Liaison
Term: Spring 2021 to September 2022

The Main Results Centre Lead will be responsible for overseeing the operation of the Main Results Centre during competition. They will lead 5+ Main Results Centre crew members per shift in ensuring the reporting of all competition results are collected, accurate, and uploaded to the Niagara 2022 Results portal (GEMS.pro).

Overview:

The Main Results Centre (MRC) ensures the accurate and timely collection of Sport Results. The MRC will be responsible for overseeing schedule changes, verifying results, and liaising with all key stakeholders for any changes that affect the schedule. The Main Results Centre Lead supervises this process and several crew members working towards this goal. 

The Main Results Centre Lead will be trained in the use of GEMS.pro software which manages participant registration, volunteer registration and shift schedules, the sport schedule, and results. Use and understanding of this software is critical, and as such the MRC Lead must be technologically proficient. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

Phase I – Initial Planning (16 months out)

  • Participate in one monthly Sport Committee Meeting 
  • Work with the Sport Functional Area to identify the scope of operations for the Niagara 2022 Main Results Centre

Phase II – Integrated Planning (1 year  out)

  • Participate in one monthly Sport Committee Meeting
  • Receive training on Gems.Pro results reporting software
  • Work with the Fit Out and Technology Functional Areas to ensure Main Results Centre has appropriate equipment to operate

Phase III – Implementation and Games Operations (4 months out to end of  Games)

  • Participate in one monthly Sport Committee Meeting
  • Work with  the Main Results Centre Staff Liaison to ensure that Sport Organizing Committee (SOC) Results Representatives (one per sport) are trained in the use of GEMS.pro
  • Responsible for role-specific training, scheduling, and supervision of Games-time Main Results Centre Crew (5-7 per shift)

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong leadership skills: public speaking, motivating and facilitating collaboration
  • Visionary with devotion to teamwork and strong relationship management abilities
  • Strong organizational and planning skills 
  • Strong background in computer literacy as use of results management software will be required (training provided)
  • Exceptional approach to problem-solving, getting to collaborative solutions and working through conflicting ideas
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; ability to communicate in French is an asset
  • Ability to work effectively with other volunteers
  • Ability to make thoughtful, efficient, and effective decisions under potentially stressful situations/conditions
  • Works well under pressure and is proactive

Prerequisites:

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills 
  • Ability to obtain required security clearances and, if required, a drivers’ abstract
  • Ability to work effectively with other team members, including volunteers, and to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Background in sport and IT is considered an asset

Time Commitment:

  • From appointment (Spring 2021) to completion of the Games (August 2022) including extended hours during Games-time (August 1-24, 2022):
  • Ability to attend one committee meeting per month, with increasing frequency as we approach Games-time
  • Availability during test events at respective venue as applicable
  • Participation in Games-wide Forward Planning sessions (total of five days over 18 months)
  • During the Games, venues can operate long hours -  sometimes up to 14 to 16 hours a day for the entire duration of the sport competition schedule. Availability during Games is required, including 1-2 days prior to sport competition starting for venue set-up
