What types of volunteer roles are available with the Games and how do I apply to volunteer?

There are three different types of volunteer roles available with the Games:

  1. Planning Volunteers: These are volunteers who will help us in the planning stages leading up to the Games. You can view a list of current Planning Volunteer vacancies and apply via our website.

  2. Volunteers at Pre-Games Events: Various events will be held from now until Games-time and many volunteers will be needed. We will post this opportunity as needed on our website for people to express interest in helping and they will join a “pool” of volunteers that we can call upon to help at these pre-Games events.

  3. Games-time Volunteers: These are volunteers who will assist during the actual Games in August 2022. Our online volunteer application site will open October 25, 2021, and all volunteers will be required to apply, and will go through a screening and selection process before being assigned to a role, scheduled, oriented, and provided with a uniform.

What is the difference between pre-Games and Games-time?

Pre-Games: This is from now until the actual Games.

Games-time: Refers to when the Games will be held, including the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

What is the volunteer recruitment timeline?

Planning Volunteers: Positions will be posted on the website, as needed. Volunteers for Pre-Games Events: Positions will be posted on the website, as needed Games-time Volunteers. The Volunteer application website is now taking applications.

What is the minimum time commitment for volunteering at the Games?

All volunteers that sign up for Games-time are expected to volunteer at least 36 hours from August 6, 2022 - August 21, 2022. Some may do that all in one week, and others may spread it across the two weeks of the Games.

What types of volunteer positions are available for Games-time?

There are more than 150 unique volunteer roles available during Games-time that will support many areas from Sport Operations to Transportation, from Ticketing to Food Service, from Event Services to Merchandise Sales, just to name a few. Our Games-time volunteer application website is now taking applications. All volunteers will be required to register online and move through our screening, selection, assignment, and training process.
