Rise with Glowing Hearts Concert for Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic
Originally scheduled for January 20, the Rise with Glowing Hearts concert, presented by GFL Environmental, will now take place on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at the Meridian Centre
December 22, 2021 (Niagara, Ont.) — As a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and new capacity restrictions in Ontario, the Niagara 2022 Host Society has made the difficult decision to postpone next January’s Rise with Glowing Hearts concert to Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at the Meridian Centre.
With its new date in April, the Rise with Glowing Hearts concert, presented by GFL Environmental, will continue to feature an all-Canadian line-up headlined by TIM HICKS, with special guests LOVERBOY and POESY. The Niagara 2022 Host Society continues to work with JEREMIE ALBINO and his current spring schedule to determine his availability for the concert’s new date.
Originally set to celebrate the 2022 Canada Games being 200 days away, the concert in April will now instead mark a 100-day countdown to Niagara hosting our country’s largest multi-sport event, the Canada Games — which will begin with an Opening Ceremony at the Meridian Centre on August 6, 2022.
All tickets already purchased for the concert will remain valid for the new date in April. Any ticket holder unable to attend the concert as a result of its postponement will have 30 days from today’s announcement (or up until January 21) to request a refund through Ticketmaster.
“Although we are disappointed to be postponing our Rise with Glowing Hearts concert, we are very excited about the opportunity to bring our country together next August to celebrate the Canada Summer Games here in Niagara,” said Doug Hamilton, Board Chair of the Niagara 2022 Host Society. “We look forward to hosting our Rise with Glowing Hearts concert in April to start the 100-day countdown to that national celebration.”
Held every two years, alternating between winter and summer, the Canada Games are the country’s marquee event for amateur sport representing the highest level of national competition for thousands of up-and-coming Canadian athletes. The 28th edition of the Canada Games will mark just the third occasion in the event’s history that it will have taken place in the province of Ontario and the first time in 21 years. In total, more than 5,000 participants and close to 4,500 volunteers are expected to take part in the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games scheduled for August 6-21, 2022. Available tickets for next year’s Games are currently available for purchase online.
