November 9, 2021 (Niagara, Ont.) — The Niagara 2022 Host Society is excited to announce a 200-Day-Out celebration concert featuring an all-Canadian line-up headlined by TIM HICKS, with special guests LOVERBOY, POESY, and JEREMIE ALBINO. This concert, presented by GFL Environmental, will be called ‘Rise with Glowing Hearts’ and is scheduled for January 20, 2022, at the Meridian Centre.

‘Rise with Glowing Hearts’ will celebrate the 200-day countdown to Niagara hosting our country’s largest multi-sport event, the Canada Games — which will begin with an Opening Ceremony at the Meridian Centre on August 6, 2022.

Presale tickets for ‘Rise with Glowing Hearts’ will be made available tomorrow on Wednesday, November 10. Those interested in presale tickets must sign up for the Action N22 Newsletter to receive this exclusive offer. Later this week, tickets will then open up to the general public on Friday, November 12.

"I am over-the-moon excited and honoured to be headlining this show right in my hometown of St. Catharines, Ontario," said four-time JUNO Award nominee TIM HICKS. “I can't wait to hit the stage at the Meridian Centre and celebrate the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games. It’s going to be so much fun!”

“We are thrilled to be bringing this exciting concert to the Niagara Region and to begin celebrating what will be a very special year for our community,” added Doug Hamilton, Board Chair of the Niagara 2022 Host Society. “Embodying words from our national anthem, Rise with Glowing Hearts encourages us all to come together in celebration as we continue to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic and look ahead to next year’s 2022 Canada Summer Games.”

Last Friday, the Niagara 2022 Host Society also announced the wide release of ‘Steel Heart’, which will serve as the anthem for the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games. ‘Steel Heart’ is a song written, produced and recorded by POESY, one of the four acts who will perform at the Meridian Centre next January.

Held every two years, alternating between winter and summer, the Canada Games are the country’s marquee event for amateur sport representing the highest level of national competition for thousands of up-and-coming Canadian athletes. The 28th edition of the Canada Games will mark just the third occasion in the event’s history that it will have taken place in the province of Ontario and the first time in 21 years. In total, more than 5,000 participants and close to 4,500 volunteers are expected to take part in the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games scheduled for August 6-21, 2022.

About TIM HICKS

Delivering track after track with unparalleled quality and consistency, TIM HICKS’ ascent as an elite chart-topping act since making his country label debut in 2013 is undeniable. His vast catalogue of highly praised releases including Throw Down, 5:01, 5:01+, Shake These Walls, New Tattoo, Wreck This and his latest EP Campfire Troubadour, have earned the four-time JUNO Award nominee and CCMA Award winner three PLATINUM selling singles, nine GOLD singles, one GOLD album, two #1 singles and eighteen Top 10 radio hits, in addition to over 87 million collective streams, multiple sold-out headlining dates and back to back national tours. Most recently, at the end of October, TIM HICKS was inducted into the Niagara Falls Arts & Culture Wall of Fame.

About LOVERBOY

For more than 40 years, LOVERBOY has been “Working for the Weekend” (and on weekends), delighting audiences around the world since forming in 1978, when vocalist Mike Reno was introduced to guitar hot shot Paul Dean – both veterans of several bands on the Canadian scene – at Calgary’s Refinery Night Club. Along with Reno and Dean, LOVERYBOY still includes original members Doug Johnson on keyboards and Matt Frenette on drums, with Ken “Spider” Sinnaeve replacing the late Scott Smith on bass.

LOVERBOY signed with Columbia Records Canada, entering the studio with producer Bruce Fairbairn and engineer Bob Rock to record their self-titled debut album, which went on to sell more than 700,000 records in Canada. Columbia U.S. released the album in Nov. 1980, which went on to sell more than 2 million albums in the States and four million worldwide. Soon the band found themselves playing on mega tours with Journey, Bob Seger, Cheap Trick, ZZ Top, Kansas and Def Leppard, to name a few. They quickly became MTV darlings, being one of the first bands ever featured on the music channel. With their trademark red leather pants, bandannas, big rock sound and high-energy live shows, LOVERBOY has sold more than 10 million albums, earning four multi-platinum plaques, including the four-million-selling “Get Lucky”, and a trio of double-platinum releases in their self-titled 1980 debut, 1983’s Keep It Up and 1985’s Lovin’ Every Minute of It. In March 2009, the group was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame at the Juno Awards show in Vancouver.

About POESY

POESY is the solo project of Toronto-based singer/songwriter/pianist Sarah Botelho. POESY was initially discovered after she appeared on the first season of hit Canadian music show, THE LAUNCH. Her performance captivated the judges and the hearts of millions across the country and her incredible breakout performance landed POESY a major label deal with Big Machine Records. Met with an incredible reception, her debut single "Soldier Of Love" rapidly climbed the ranks of Canada’s music charts - debuting at #1 on the iTunes All Genres chart and landing in the Billboard Top 40.

Ready for her next musical statement, POESY enlisted the help of UK producer Stephen Lipson (Billie Eilish, Annie Lennox, Hans Zimmer) to compile the next batch of songs that effortlessly set her apart from the pack. Along with a commission to write the anthem of the 2022 Canada Games and a nod from Canada with full FACTOR grant funding POESY is poised to carve out a lane all her own.

About JEREMIE ALBINO

Born and raised in the bright and booming metropolis of Toronto, JEREMIE ALBINO’s heart led him out of the city and into Prince Edward County, where country living and a decade of working on farms gave him the time and space to hone his songwriting skills. His music nods to all manner of troubadours who rambled down similar paths throughout history—he nods slyly to the legendary blues singers who inspired him, offers a soft and insightful touch with his folk songs, and stomps and swaggers through soulful rock ‘n’ roll. But JEREMIE ALBINO is a natural and an original, created by an alchemy that favours, above all else, that most mysterious and coveted of qualities: heart. And his wildly impressive debut, Hard Time, overflows with it.

Before embarking on the recording, he’d never been in a studio, played with a band, or worked with a producer. JEREMIE ALBINO’s earthy Americana has never been laid to tape until now. And Hard Time sounds just as untouched by pretension as you’d expect from a musician who got to this point simply by letting his heart lead the way. The first recordings were laid down at the Bombshelter in Nashville with producer Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Hurray For The Riff Raff, Langhorne Slim), and the rest was finished off at Union Sound in Toronto with Crispin Day. Get ready for it, coming out on Sleepless Records summer 2019.
